A proposal for an Ethernet-over-WDM wide area multiplexing architecture

چکیده
This paper presents a workable solution for transport of IP packets over optical networks. The protocol heavily relies on the data link and physical layer of the proposed standard 10 Gb/s Ethernet. The architecture is able to optically multiplex and forward asynchronous packets like those generated by classical Ethernet devices.
